3×9: Sculptural Dialogues with Nature
3×9 is a site-specific project by Zane Zelmene that transforms the invasive giant hogweed plant into monumental sculptural installations, merging environmental commentary with artistic innovation. By repurposing this aggressive species, Zelmene creates ephemeral structures that invite reflection on humanity’s complex relationship with nature and its cycles of dominance, destruction, and renewal.
The project’s central focus lies in three unique sculptures, each embodying the tension between fragility and resilience, natural decay, and artistic transformation. Using projection mapping, light, and shadow, the works transcend their material origins, serving as metaphors for impermanence and the interplay between natural and digital worlds.
3×9 invites audiences to engage with the changing landscapes of both environment and perception, questioning how we define and navigate boundaries between the natural and the constructed.
